The Legend of the Thorn Bird

There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth.

From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree, and does not rest until it has found one. Then, singing among the savage branches, it impales itself upon the longest, sharpest spine. And, dying, it rises above its own agony to out-carol the lark and the nightingale. One superlative song, existence the price. But the whole world stills to listen, and God in His heaven smiles. For the best is only bought at the cost of great pain.... Or so says the legend.

Besides that i guess, Joss brings back the ass-kicking female lead in Rivers. Though Inara seems out of place in every shot she was in, in the trailer. And i think certain characters are probably going to get side-lined, as most TV to movies end up to be... there r just too many character.

Those are the earbuds bundle with most iPods, minis, photos, and shuffles. They are crap. They have crap bass, weak treble. Dont use them. I know its a fad or something, to be iPod-chic. But really, if u r a true music fan like Apple wants to sell u as, then do urself/us all a favor, and go get some real headsets. Something serious, like open headsets might be too big and to power hunagry to be powered by an iPOd. Unless u want to carry an amp. Cmoys are cheap good portable amps that u can build urself or find on eBay. I got my from eBay. Or HeadRoom makes afew amps such as
AirHead and BitHead, which are cool cause they can be powered locally as some sort of amp for ur computer.

But still lets go back to earbuds. Cause the whole headphone look is again, anti-iPod-chic. Cause we want the whole poratble music scene right? so we go for headbuds. Now i dont know about the Apple in-ear headphones. I do like in-ear headphones, their rubber caps do fill ur ear up and give great bass. But the down fall is that they create a seal in ur ear that makes a decent noise reduction setup, but it also amplifies any sound in ur body. Chewing, walking hitting, moving around makes u hear all sort of weird sounds coming from internal vibrations in ur body. This make in-ears almost impossiable to eat with. Still i use my Sony MDR-EX51s with my iPod Shuffle. They are small and they have pretty good bass for earbuds. Another great earbud is the Etymotic ER4 Isolating Earphones. They kinda of follow the in-ear theory but these are much pricier. Not to mention the creme de la creme of earbuds the Shure E5C of the Shure E series. Shure being a professional lvl audio equipment maker made these isolating earphones that look like cheap plastic things. But i heard they are the earbuds God would use, if he listened to Helter Skelter, the song, not the group. Again i stress these in-ear, isolating earbuds create nice passive noise reduction, they do enhance internal body sounds. So i dont think one should jog in these.

Most of them come in white, so u can still keep u r white iPod chic. And the Sony MDR-51s cost about $30 dollars, so there's no excuse to keep those craptastic Apple earbuds. In fact iPod Lounge's accessories gives some nice reviews on some of these earphones too. So really stop using those crappy Apple things. I mean it. Dont make me go and give u a wang beating.

Visual Communication's 2005 Asian Film Fest will be starting next week. This is where i first saw Better Luck Tomorrow with Jestr's friend Karen Ann Cheung.

Last week, while driving around Woodland Hills w/ Mr. Starfizzy, i saw a Roy's Restuarant. Having fond memmories of Roy's in Hawaii, i screamed out like a little boy in a cnady shop. Mr. Starfizzy confused by the fact that a mere restaurant can bring such excitement to the Wang, mentioned that he's HI co-workers have mentioned its existence. See the first Roy's opened like 2 miles form my Hawaii house back in 92 or 93, or even earlier, and the Wang has spent a lot of time there... even know friends who worked there earning 100 bucks a night just off tips. Ah good times... So one day, the Wang will check out this new "Mainland" Roy's, even though i heard baout them being in the Texas, San Fran, and Washington for awhile now.

Korea's advertisement campaign for the PSP is very artistically done. They start with a bunch of nice photos of hot women caressing their PSP to a very well done flash website. The korean campaign is definetly more alluring than the "Entertainment withut boundries" angle in US.

So I bought Jade Empire LAst night. My conversation with Tensai on World of Warcraft last night went something like this:

[Wang]: So I bought Jade Empire, that new martial game for the Xbox.

[Tensai]: Um. when are u going to play that?

[Wang]: hmm... probably right after i play Resident Evil 4, and open up my Metroid Prime..

Giant Robots, no not the Big O, the store on Sawtelle, is not only expanding into Silverlake, but now into the food business. GR/eats is now openned near GR2 on Sawtelle blvd on the west side. Its a nice mix of casual Japanese food, burgers & fries, and other asian dishes. All with the GR chic touch. Check out their PDF menu, they have some cool stuff like a dirty cheap paella.
